Ink Cartridge Level Reset Procedure

Ink level monitoring can be reset with select early generation HP ink cartridges. Two procedures are provided down below.

 

Tape cartridge’s rear contacts to restore ink level monitoring

  1. Tape over Blue contact point (see diagram below), install into printer, allow printer to print alignment/test page. Remove tape.

Resetting HP56 Ink Levels

  1. Tape over Red contact point, install into printer, allow printer to print alignment/test page. Remove tape.
  2.  Tape over both Green contact points, install into printer, allow printer to print alignment/test page. Remove tape.
  3.  Printer should return to normal operation.

CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. knockoffs sold thru the internet from overseas) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors. We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges…..refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested!
